Leatherwood Flower

The graceful flower of the Leatherwood tree. It is responsible for one of the iconic fragrances and flavours of Tasmania. These exotic trees which only grow wildly in remote areas of the island are used (via the bees, of course) to create Leatherwood honey; a floral and complex taste sensation found nowhere else. On warm days in the Tasmanian rainforest, the smell of the Leatherwood in full blossom is an unmistakable aroma which I will always treasure.
